Introduction
Terminativ Ltd is an IT outsourcing company that serves customers in Cameroon, France and the UK. We primarily do web development, AI engineering and IT consultancy. We equally have internal products such as Houtix an AI-powered exam prep application for students and Houtix Scholarship a mobile application that helps students and young graduates find opportunities. This amongst others forms the core of the work we do at Terminativ Ltd.
Since 2023, we have taken software engineering students in their final year mainly from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of the University of Buea (UB). This internship program spans from August to January and constitutes their first semester's course requirements while providing a solid entry into the job market. The 2024 batch was hosted in Douala (ActivSpaces) and Buea (iSpark Innov) from the 1st Aug 2024 to the 31st of Jan 2025.
The students worked under my direct supervision with the objectives set at the beginning based on their career interests. The program is run based on the current industry trends and aims to equip the students with the skills they need to be competitive in the global landscape. Items include intensive DSA, full software development based on problem statements, iterative product development, technical writing, problem-solving, collaborative software development and learning.
Meet the students
This year, Terminativ welcomed 2 brilliant students from FET, UB. They were selected after a rigorous vetting process and based on recommendations from their Faculty.
Lekunze Precious showed great potential during vetting a served as batch lead. She developed a language learning tool that helps users pronounce better by providing quantitative feedback at the syllabus level. She wrote a draft of a decentralised restaurant information production and sharing protocol.

Working conditions
A typical day starts with the students sharing their daily objectives, a daily standup is held to update the team and a final meeting at the end of the day to discuss progress, challenges and achievements. Everything is required to be properly documented and presented.

Conclusion
Based on my observations, I believe the students are ready for what comes next. The objectives have been attained at 85% and the path is set. We will potentially host more students in the coming years with improvements suggested by alumni.
On a personal note, I am satisfied with the outcome and proud of the milestones completed these past months. This is totally in sync with my philosophy which is to empower as many young people as possible enabling them to become solution providers for themselves, their families, communities and the world at large.
